About

I’m from Santa Barbara, California, and studied Economics at UC Santa Barbara. Near the end I had to make a decision. Either finish a minor in Mathematics, or spend a semester abroad in the Netherlands. I chose the latter and haven’t regretted it once.

That semester turned into a master’s in Economics and Financial Research (Econometrics) and then a PhD at Maastricht University. The Netherlands has become my home away from home.

Somewhere along the way I picked up a serious interest in statistical computing, and I’ve come to care a lot about how research code gets written. This includes interests such as

Outside of work I boulder, hike, play chess, and play disc golf. Every photo on this site comes from one of those.
